Aisha, a woman from Gaza, decides, with encouragement from her son, to open a cooking channel on Instagram. Her dream is to open her own restaurant in Gaza — a place that will give her independence.

In September 2023, she begins her first live broadcast with six viewers and a traditional Gazan recipe. As the starvation in Gaza continues, her number of followers from around the world grows — many likes, but the cooking ingredients are running out.

She continues documenting her life and cooking as she is displaced from place to place — from her home to her parents’ house, and from her parents’ house to a tent. Every live broadcast she begins reveals another stage in the starvation of Gaza: cooking with canned food, eating leaves and wild plants, relying on airdropped aid, the absence of flour, and the dangers involved in obtaining it.

But Aisha keeps cooking.

The play was created from the testimonies of many women from Gaza — videos, messages, testimonies, and posts. Women who continued documenting even when they had nothing left to cook. Some of them are still struggling to survive.
