A reading workshop with Marwa Saabni exploring Palestinian literature and poetry. We will read texts in Arabic and their Hebrew translation, we will experience life through the eyes of the Indigenous community and explore the ways in which literary characters navigate a challenging reality. We will also read poetry by Palestinian-Syrian poet Ghayath Almadhoun. The texts are drawn from works of Mahmoud Shuqair, Ghayath Almadhoun and Palestinian writers. They were translated through Maktoob’s unique bilingual and binational model, based on collaboration between Jewish and Arab translators. Marwa Saabni is a short-story writer, editor, translator and member of the Maktoob project.
