An intriguing encounter between two musical worlds: classical music and jazz. In the spirit of the "Third Stream" movement that developed in the second half of the 20th century, a unique dialogue emerges between the structures and harmonies of the classical tradition and the freedom, groove, and improvisation of jazz.

The quartet — featuring Steve Wilson (saxophone), Alon Nechushtan (piano), Yorai Oron (bass), and Danny Benedict (drums) — presents a rich program combining works that have become milestones in the intersection of these styles. Among the pieces featured in the program: Take Five by Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond, Tribute to Bach by Oscar Peterson, Tribute to Chopin by Dave Brubeck, and Blues Baroque by John Lewis and the Modern Jazz Quartet.

The influence of the Third Stream extended beyond the jazz world, also inspiring musicians in the realm of jazz-rock. For example, Keith Emerson, who was influenced by the music of Aaron Copland, forged dramatic connections between classical music and progressive rock. The performance will also include the piece Jerusalem by Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

An evening of a rich musical mosaic where stylistic boundaries blur — a fresh and thrilling encounter between classical music, jazz, and improvisation!

Steve Wilson is one of the most prominent alto and soprano saxophonists of his generation. He has been described by JazzTimes as "one of the best of our time" and as a consummate composer and performer. He has appeared on over 175 recordings alongside jazz legends, including Chick Corea, Christian McBride, Dave Holland, and Michael Brecker. He is also a member of award-winning groups such as the Dave Holland Quintet and Chick Corea’s Grammy-winning ensemble, "Origin".
