Titus Andronicus

Adapted from Shakespeare’s tragedy

Titus Andronicus returns to Rome after winning the bloody war against the Goth army. He brings back with him the body of his son who lost his life in battle, as well as the captured Goth queen Tamora. He decides to kill her captured son in revenge for the death of his own son.

Thus begins an unstoppable cycle of violence that will only end with its bitter and inevitable conclusion to the play. In this, his first and most brutal tragedy, Shakespeare successfully identified the painful, violent, and vengeful element dormant in every human being – the one that awakens in times of crisis and pushes us to commit terrible atrocities. 400 years and countless bloody conflicts and wars later, we wonder in our play whether it is possible to resist that dark element? Is the bitter end truly inevitable? Or will we forever stage plays about revenge?

Play length: 50 Min.

The play premiered at the “Bekorot” festival at the Kibbutzim Seminar School of Performing Arts
