## About

The Installation Sun-Kissed Souvenirs by artists Yaniv Drey and Sun Franko was developed through a dialogue with the CCA’s archive of books and catalogues, located in its entrance space. Both works engage in different ways with how images and knowledge are gathered, preserved, and organized—in books, archives, and online.

Sun Franko responds to the flow, excess, and contradictions of the archive as an entity that collects images in a world that perpetuates an incessant flux of information. In his work, political, sexual, and historical images are not granted exceptional or isolated treatment, but are rather placed on a single plane and cataloged devoid of hierarchy. Franko floods the viewer with images, or perhaps reflects the excess we already live in; he cleanses and purifies them out of a desire to heal their status, which has become degraded in the current era. The miniature scale of the images and the multiplicity in which they appear testify to the metamorphoses of an image emerging unexpectedly from the subconscious. Through fragmentary fusing, he presents the index as a living, vibrating layout, tracing the human mindset under the blinding strike of the sun. Franko treats the images—whether digital ones found online, or those scanned by him from art history and artist books—as fully-fledged documentary seismographs, all captured from a single vantage point: from the back.

Yaniv Drey places a rigid structural object along the internal seam of the entrance space, on the wall separating it from the book storage room. The work, All the Yellow, constructed from wooden formwork coated with an opaque layer of melamine resin, deconstructs the artist’s first name into a material skeleton and into tiered, isolated parts. In this architectural structure, the letters of his name in Hebrew, form the future-tense verb “Yaniv” (meaning "will yield/produce").
