## About

Dziga Vertov, one of the most visionary figures of early Soviet cinema, was a pioneer of documentary filmmaking and a founding theorist of cinéma vérité. In his most celebrated film, his brother, cinematographer Mikhail Kaufman, takes center stage as a cameraman wandering through the city, capturing its rhythms, wonders, and unexpected sights. Through a dazzling interplay of inventive editing, camera tricks, animation, slow motion, and accelerated movement, Vertov transforms everyday life into a breathtaking cinematic spectacle—a joyous celebration of the motion picture camera and its extraordinary power to reveal the hidden drama and beauty of the world.
