## About

Set in 16th-century France, in a village near Toulouse, the story begins when Martin Guerre leaves his young wife to join the army. Nine years later, a changed and confident man returns, claiming to be Martin, and rekindles a passion their marriage had never known. But when he lays claim to his share of the family estate, doubts begin to surface: is he truly Martin Guerre, or a gifted impostor? As the village divides over his identity, screenwriter Jean-Claude Carrière and director Daniel Vigne weave a compelling mystery of love, memory, and deception, set against a beautifully recreated world of customs, laws, and passions.
