After his wife returns to Tokyo with their three-year-old daughter, Jérôme leaves Paris behind and follows, only to find himself shut out of his child’s life. He stays in the city, driving a taxi through its endless streets, searching for Lily in every passing face. Nine years drift by, until one day a girl steps into his cab who might be his daughter. What could have been a legal drama or a tale of cultural divides becomes, through understated direction and Romain Duris’s beautifully restrained performance, something quieter and more intimate: a tender portrait of loss, longing and a father’s refusal to let go.
