Hugo

Robert Zucchini, a celebrated stage actor, has devoted his life to the words of Victor Hugo, filling theaters night after night with his passion for literature. Yet beyond the spotlight, his own life is painfully empty, marked by solitude and an inability to forge meaningful connections. When his estranged daughter unexpectedly reappears, his carefully ordered world begins to unravel, stirring memories, regrets, and long-buried emotions. Based on a screenplay by the late Sophie Fillières, who passed away before she could bring it to the screen, Pascal Bonitzer crafts a tender, bittersweet comedy-drama about family, reconciliation, and the fragile distance between art and life, featuring a beautifully nuanced performance by Fabrice Luchini alongside Chiara Mastroianni.
