Barbora Hollan is a documentary director and cinematographer based in Lillehammer, Norway. She studied creative documentary directing at the Norwegian Film School and fine art photography at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. Working as a “one-woman-one-camera” filmmaker, she creates intimate spaces for her subjects while developing a poetic visual language. Her short films Dandelion Mum and The Naked were nominated at several international festivals. The Naked opened the Grimstad International Film Festival, while Dandelion Mum received the Don Quixote Prize at the Krakow Film Festival. In 2014, her photographic work was also selected for the National Art Exhibition in Norway. A whitewater kayaker herself, Barbora has also worked for several years as a kayaking photographer in Nepal, Chile, and Peru — an experience that continues to inform her filmmaking.
