Shy Tsubasa and outgoing Gyotaro, two third-graders, become best friends. But when Tsubasa begins to suspect that Gyotaro is an alien, fear and suspicion tear them apart—until they meet again 20 years later under dark circumstances. A dark, poetic and suspenseful drama about the connections that shape our lives, told with remarkable cinematic confidence. Through shifting perspectives, misdirection and fractured narrative structures, the film keeps us guessing until the very end.
A masterful debut feature, winner of Best Feature Film at the Ottawa International Animation Festival and nominated for the Caméra d’Or at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. A must-watch!
