Opening January 7, 2027
Alex Farfuri is a street photographer, artist, and chronicler of everyday life in the public sphere. The exhibition presents a retrospective view of her work from the past seven years, a period marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, social and political protests, the October 7 massacre, the Swords of Iron War, and ongoing military fighting on multiple fronts that still continues today. Presented side by side, the photographs offer a complex portrait of Israeli society – forming an ongoing visual investigation of its many faces and raising questions about identity, belonging, and time.
Farfuri’s photographs are thought-provoking, full of humor, and characterized by a rich palette and complex compositions. At times, she adopts an anonymous, detached position, photographing her subjects from a distance; at others, she moves in very close, driven by the urge to capture a fleeting moment. In many cases, much like a researcher, she explores a single subject over time, cultivating ongoing relationships with the people she photographs. Her works reflect her love of people and of the city of Tel Aviv, where she lives and works.
