The response to AI is AM – meaning pure, raw theatre.
It is not entertainment – for what is entertainment if not padding a skeleton so it won’t make noise – this, instead, is a creation that appeases the fear of that skeleton, or at least creates a support group for it.
So, it is for an audience. For one hour. An hour that feels like eternity. Hence Samuel Beckett’s “Endgame”.
Following “Waiting for Godot” – where Godot never arrives – four souls find themselves trapped at the opposite end of creation, pondering the absurdity of the human condition. Poetry and laughter, after the tears have dried up.
“Endgame” is a worthy challenge.
