Jenny Birger

Three women go out for a walk.Smadar, Michal and Smadar. A simple, everyday action, one they are highly skilled in, becomes dance. An intergenerational feminist encounter that engages with time, memory, and what we leave behind. Through walking, each woman’s relationship to her body, to the others, and to the fleeting present is examined. As they move along the path, they oscillate between order and disruption; form emerges and dissolves, and the gaze shifts.

Amalia Nataf (b. 1993) is an independent creator, performer, and socio-political activist. She is a graduate of the two-year Choreography Program at the Kelim Center and the training program for dancer-creators at Pina. Her works engage with questions of gender, body image, processes of memory, and embodied mental and physical impressions. In her practice, she examines the boundaries between art, identity, politics, and society, viewing art as a tool for generating awareness, dialogue, and civic engagement.

Two women meet on the childhood playground. The rules of the game, like voices from the past carried within them, inhabit the space while inviting dismantling, bending, expansion, and resistance. Through play, each woman finds her way back to herself, as an identity that can be taken apart and reassembled. Between remembering and discovery, a space opens where something old is unsettled and something new can find its place.

Jenny Birger is an interdisciplinary artist, performer, choreographer, and teacher. Her works have been presented in festivals and artistic platforms in Israel and internationally, including Cinedans (Netherlands), Epos International Art Film Festival, and Kelim Choreography Center. Alongside her independent artistic practice, she creates and teaches in community contexts, including long-term work with people living with Parkinson’s disease through Yasmeen Godder’s “Moving Communities” program.

Birger holds a PhD in Linguistics from Tel Aviv University and brings a distinctly interdisciplinary perspective to her artistic and pedagogical work.
