RawArt Gallery is pleased to announce a new solo exhibition by artist Israel Kabala.
The exhibition will be accompanied by texts by Prof. Haviva Pedaya and Avinoam Haklai.
In this new series of works, Israel Kabala revisits imagery he has explored in the past. He deconstructs these images, pushing their boundaries while navigating the space between concrete representation and abstraction. The works are created using pigments and acrylic emulsion, alongside various mixed-media techniques. At their core lies the act of painting itself — built up through layers of color, stains, splashes, drips, and linear marks. Paint accumulates on the surface, absorbs into it, or is removed from it, resulting in textures that shift between dark, dense areas and light, exposed surfaces.
The paintings are characterized by a restrained color palette.
Within these surfaces, fragmentary images emerge: organic forms, bodies, and signs that hover between the tangible and the abstract. At times, the imagery coalesces around a central form; at others, it disperses across the canvas. Traces of the painting process remain visible — erased, fractured, and reconstructed, appearing either as absences or as an excess, illuminated or cast in shadow.
The work focuses on the interplay between material, action, and image — examining how painterly
