In 2014, Marius, a young giraffe at Copenhagen Zoo, failed to find his place within the zoo’s giraffe population. Deemed genetically unremarkable by the zoo’s biological director, he was killed—a decision that sparked an international outcry and sent filmmaker Max Kestner on a curious, far-reaching journey.
