An enchanting, immersive adventure! Deep in the mountains of China, rebellious Muyi lives in an isolated village where men are forbidden and women worship the spirits of the forest. Dreaming of the outside world, she defies tradition—until a traveling opera troupe awakens the spirit of the legendary “Beautiful General,” who possesses her body and sends Muyi and her friends hurtling into the distant past. Joined by a forest demigod and his vegetarian tiger, they embark on a magical journey through ancient myths, unlocking hidden truths and rewriting Muyi’s destiny. A fantasy film full of humor and action, blending elements of Chinese folklore with gorgeous French animation. From the acclaimed director of Ernest & Celestine, featuring his distinct classic animation style, delivering once again an illustrative masterpiece combining splashes of color with a sensitive hand-drawn line.
