On the banks of the Dniester River, far from the noise of the modern world, a small, devout Ukrainian community lives a self-sufficient life, with almost no technology. Life unfolds at its own rhythm, shaped by the river, the land and tradition – but war cannot be kept outside. Like the river that never stops flowing, it draws steadily closer, threatening this secluded world. Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk’s (Pamfir) award-winning documentary captures the beauty and fragility of a way of life seemingly suspended in time, and a community trying to hold on to its world as reality closes in.
