On the outskirts of São Paulo, where the city presses against the forest, Guarani Mbya elder Maria has transformed damaged land into a flourishing garden. Through planting, medicinal practices, and spiritual traditions, she nurtures both the forest and community knowledge. With its poetic imagery, The Garden of Maria follows Maria as she tends the land, defends Indigenous rights, and passes her wisdom to a new generation. A hopeful film about resistance, renewal, and our place within the natural world.
