Independence Day 2008. Batchen, a 13-year-old girl, stands by the road begging for help. Inside their car her father is unconscious, surrounded by her three younger siblings. Many cars pass by, but only one Druze man stops. He performs CPR and stays until help arrives, then vanishes without a trace. Batchen’s father didn’t survive, and for 17 years, her family has lived in suffocating silence. Now a young woman, she sets out to find the man, believing he is the key to the healing of her entire family.
