I was and I am Alexander Penn

I Was and I Am - Alexander Penn

Based on a play by: Danny Horowitz

Adaptation and Direction: Dorit Nitai-Neeman

An original, moving play about the final, intimate, and lesser-known chapter in the life of the poet Alexander Penn!

The play features some of Penn's famous poems: "Suru Meni", "Not I, the Man", "Confession", and "Was It or Wasn't It".

The story moves back and forth between the present—Penn's final days—and his turbulent past, full of passion, great ideals, alcohol, and family.

The play touches on the soul-searching of a great creator who was sidelined from the public discourse due to his political choices, and it explores the question of sacrificing talent and creative life for the sake of ideology.
